


With two thousand two hundred (2200) tons harvested in the first agricultural campaign, the Longa Agro-Industrial Farm located in the commune of Longa, in the municipality of Cuito Cuanavale, provided sixty (60) tons of rice to support the victims of the drought in the province from Cuando Cubango.
The donation was made this Saturday, May 20, to the Provincial Government, in an act that was attended by Governor José Martins, CEO of the ALCAAL GROUP Company Jorge do Amaral, Deputy Governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector Helena Chimena, government members and responsible from the farm.
The Governor of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, thanked the farm management company for the gesture, stressing that the initiative joins the actions of the Angolan Executive to combat hunger and poverty within families, but also an opportunity to prove the rice made in Longa- Cuando Cubango.
He said that the sixty (60) tons of rice produced in the municipality of Longa, Cuito-Cuanavale, will benefit ten (10) thousand families taking into account the per capita basis of social assistance to vulnerable families.
The government official assured that from Monday 22/05, citizens affected by drought will begin to receive support, and called on other organizations to take the same initiative in order to reduce the vulnerability of many families.
The CEO of ALCAAL GROUP- Jorge do Amaral, assured that the company will continue to be in line with the actions of the Government of Cuando Cubango, bringing joy from its production to the families that suffered from the lack of rain.
With 70 jobs created, the Farm intends to expand the production area from six hundred to eight hundred in the next harvest, which is already being prepared. Another guarantee given by the person in charge is the continuous investment in technological equipment in order to streamline the cultivation services.
Jorge Amaral added that the province of Cuando Cubango is a priority for the distribution of the different types of rice produced at the Longa Agro-Industrial Farm.
